The Author's Journey
Joel De Gan is a visionary author exploring the frontiers of science fiction and fantasy. His work focuses on the intersection of technology and humanity, particularly in his groundbreaking "Shin Kankaku Sekai" (New Sense World) concept that explores how nanotechnology enhances human capabilities in gamified ways.
With a background in both creative writing and technology, Joel brings a unique perspective to his storytelling. His narratives blend cutting-edge scientific concepts with immersive world-building, creating experiences that challenge readers to reconsider the boundaries between reality and virtual enhancement.
Joel's current project, the young adult LitRPG serial E5M3 (Esme), takes readers on an adventure through a world where the lines between reality and virtual enhancement blur, creating an experience comparable to the classic "Ender's Game" but with a fresh, innovative approach.
Writing Philosophy
At the core of my writing is a fascination with how technology shapes human experience. The "Shin Kankaku Sekai" concept—meaning "New Sense World" in Japanese—explores a future where nanotechnology doesn't just augment our physical capabilities but fundamentally changes how we perceive and interact with reality.
Unlike traditional LitRPG or GameLit genres that often transport characters into virtual game worlds, my approach keeps characters in the physical world but enhances it through nanotechnology that gamifies reality itself. This creates a unique blend of the tangible and the virtual, where character growth happens simultaneously in both realms.
I believe that the most compelling science fiction doesn't just entertain—it challenges readers to consider the ethical, philosophical, and social implications of technological advancement. Through my stories, I aim to explore questions of identity, consciousness, and what it means to be human in an increasingly digitized world.
"The most exciting aspect of science fiction is not predicting the future, but creating a space where we can examine our present from new perspectives."
